Ways Husbands Come Across Unlovingly

My wife answered a comment the other day where someone asked if she had a list of things that husbands do that come across as unloving.  So, she came up with the list below.  She gave me the opportunity to put a title to it so after many attempts I settled on the one above because it was the shortest.  Other potential titles were “Ways Husbands Come Across as Unloving to their Wives…Intentional or Not!”, “Behaviors that are Viewed, Seen, Come Across, or Probably Are Unloving toward your Wife”, and “Let’s Stop Doing this Stuff and Learn to Show...

When a Wife Leaves an Argument

One of the most read posts on my blog is written by my wife. http://respectedhusband.wordpress.com/2012/08/30/things-a-husband-does-that-make-their-wife-feel-unloved/ It doesn’t surprise me that one of her posts is viewed more than any of my posts. She has her own blog site, Peacefulwife.com, that gets 10 times the views in a day that my site gets and she pretty much has a new post up daily. Her content is almost always right on target and she checks and double checks that she hasn’t left out anything of value about the topic. I decided to read through that article again because it had been a little while since I had looked through it. Among the list of things a husband does that make their wife feel unloved, one caught my eye and it read like this: For many of us – if we leave the room upset, and you don’t follow us to check on us, we feel unloved. – I know you are doing the respectful thing and giving us time to chill out and calm down, but we feel unloved! That’s why we follow you so disrespectfully when you leave the room, we are trying to be loving and show we care. Confusing, isn’t it!?! My wife is, or better said, was a leaver. When we couldn’t come to terms over something or we were just coming at an issue from two...

Finding a Wife's Honor and Respect in Leftovers

I would like to share a story that a husband sent in to my wife’s facebook page.  The story does a good job of illustrating how important it is for us to lead our family by making the right decisions and not just go the route of least resistance.  Our decisions may not always be the most popular but we are asked to lead by making selfless, responsible decisions. I wanted to let you know of something that happened the other day. After eating our dinner together, we both had a little left over on our plates. My wife asked if she could feed the dogs the...

Say It, Don’t Show It: Use Your Words

Recently, I started reading a book titled The Journal of Best Practices by David Finch. The book details the author’s quest to be a better husband after being diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. Asperger’s is an autism spectrum condition that limits one’s ability to interact socially with others. They might not pick up on normal social cues or deal with change very well. The author was several years into marriage when he was diagnosed and his marriage was suffering greatly. He decided that he was going to save his marriage and he was going to do this by learning to...

How Can I Know God’s Will for Me?

The decisions we make about who to marry, what job to take, what house to buy, what school the kids should attend, etc… But it is my belief that […]

How Can I Find God’s Will for Me?

Sometimes, I think that we tend to assume that the most important things about God’s will are the external things. The decisions we make about who to marry, what job to take, what house to buy, etc… But it is my belief that those things, though important, are quite secondary in God’s eyes to the […]
